Aside from events at government offices, including Government House, a number of companies hosted parties and activities to celebrate National Children’s Day.

Bangkok Bank led the way by presenting writing kits, including notebooks, pens, pencils, and pencil boxes to schools, communities, and government offices, so that the items were distributed to children on Children’s Day.
Bangkok Bank president Chartsiri Sophonpanich also led a team of volunteer staff to Wat Yod Phrapimol School in Nonthaburi and Khlong Phra Udom School in Pathum Thani. Under the “Power of Thai” campaign with other 11 organisations, the volunteers helped clean up the flood-hit schools, which also received donations of education kits, sports equipment, books and uniforms.
The “Power of Thai” campaign brings together 12 major corporate houses – GMM Grammy, Central Group, True Group, Thai Beverage, Thai Union Frozen Products, BTS Group Holdings, Mitr Phol Group, Major Cineplex Group, Muang Thai Life Assurance, Advanced Info Service and ICC International. The campaign initially aimed to rehabilitate 84 flood-hit schools, to commemorate His Majesty’s 84th birthday in 2011.
As it does every year, Tesco Lotus presented scholarships and sports equipment to schoolchildren nationwide worth Bt2.4 million. The company also officially launched the 2012 Tesco Lotus Cup football competition for children under 12.
At the Asustek Computer (Thailand) booth at Thailand Game Show 2012, children enjoyed a variety of Children’s Day activities, including ASUS & Gview Dot-A-All-Star game contest.
Chevrolet Sales Thailand welcomed children to its pavilion at the BOI Fair with a limited number of “Chevy” and “Gigi” dolls, mascots for Chevrolet’s road-safety campaign. At the pavilion, children were also introduced to the future of mobility.
On January 13, the PTT Group hosted the annual party for children, for the 12th consecutive year. Under the “Go Green” concept, the children enjoyed activities designed to boost their creativity and awareness on energy and environmental conservation. Over 1,000 students were spotted, including students from schools in Bangkok and peripheral areas and the underprivileged from foster homes.
The group also donated money to seven foundations, including Thanyaporn Home for Girls, Mahamek Home for Boys, and the Foundation for Children.
“Children are the nation’s precious treasure. Our group is delighted to be part of a project for social benefits,” said PTT President Pailin Chuchottaworn.
