Pichai Chunganuwad, managing director of THAI Cargo and Mail Commercial, said that the airline will transport approximately 6,500 kg of blood and plasma per month throughout 2012 for the Thai Red Cross Society’s National Blood Centre, which will be carried on flights operated on THAI’s domestic routenet:  Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Surat Thani, Samui, Hat Yai, and Phuket.
Blood donations transported on THAI flights will go towards providing assistance to patients receiving medical care at provincial hospitals.  Blood and plasma transported by airplane maintain high safety and quality standards, which is beneficial to patients.  The company is also assisting in facilitating transport of blood samples to overseas destinations operated by THAI.
The support has been continuing for years, to help patients nationwide, including those receiving medical care in the provinces.
