Khlong Klone in Samut Prakan was once a lush community, full of the mangrove forest. But encroachment and environmental problems have depleted the forest area, encouraging the local residents to launch the reforestation scheme.
To date, they have succeeded in growing mangrove trees on 5,000 rai, which allowed the locals to relive their traditional way of life. With the return of the green, the locals could draw visitors with ecotourism projects which help generate income.
There, tourists can witness the shrimp paste making and learn how to raise cram. They can enjoy themself on the mud board, sliding through the muddy area.
Many groups of companies have joined the effort. On July 10, Toshiba Nonthaburi's staff arranged the May Day Trip to the beach community.
On August 18, Impact Exhibition and Management's Impact Society, its customer relations unit, also brought over 300 card members to Khlong Klone, to help the nature and enjoy themselves.

Establishing environmental awareness takes time, particularly among adults. Realising that, the Energy Ministry is turning its focus to our children.
